The event was planned with 16 teams ready to go, until a couple of days before the event when Team Motion pulled out due to work commitments. Which wasn't really a problem as we had time to call up a reserve team to the event. 80's Gym Team was who they were and true to their name, they arrived in the blistering cold in uniform, comprising of singlets, really really short shorts and headbands. I most certainly wish I got a photo of them before they departed, but the day was too hectic with 15 teams turning up to the event. Perhaps next time we have an event, we should make it that teams who come in fancy dress get free entry. Wait, 15 teams? Yep that's right, 15, one team decided to pull a no show, which meant I had to redo the groups for the event to 3 groups of 5 instead of the original 4 of 4. The change in groups resulted in each team having to have a bye, which unfortunately meant that each team had a long break throughout the day. Being only 3 groups meant only 3 finalists as well, and its very hard to do anything with an odd number of teams (original idea was 4 groups = 4 finalists) so we had to make an on the spot decision to have a second chance playoff for the finals position. We had 4 teams doing a 10 min TDM in single elim format. The day started at 10:30am (due to the team regrouping) with the majority of teams being uber keen and arriving at 9am, which is an event first as i've never encountered an event where the participants arrive EARLY. We had the group draws done at 10:15am and we were on the way. After the group stages were completed, we had a raffle draw for the 4 x Ati 3450 graphics cards which was quite a nice bonus for the participants. Now to do the draw, we needed to find someone impartial, which counted out all the teams, Patrick (CH admin) and myself. Luckily for us, Team Beards of Doom had their cheerleader (who was too shy to get into the photos), stood by the team for the entire day without any complaints there, so I asked her to grace us with the draw. Congratulations to the winners of the graphics cards, I hope you're careful with the installation. Big thanks Jenny to and Ati for the cards. After the draw was completed, we started the 2nd Chance single elim, which consisted of teams who had won ¾ of their games in respective groups. Team SAP came out on top and earnt their way into the finals. In the end, the finals group ended up to be Winrarz, Team StarFox, Team SAP and Team Plus. The finals group finished with with following; 1st Winrarz (Undefeated, except they didn't reach the 3k mark which I set them) 2nd Team SAP (3 wins 1 loss reg group, winner of 2nd chance berth, 2 wins 1 loss finals group) 3rd Team StarFox (4 wins 0 loss reg group, 1 win 2 loss finals group) 4th Team Plus (4 wins 0 loss reg group, 0 win 3 loss finals group) Congrats to the winners of cash and credit and to the graphic card winners. It was an awesome day, great to see the Chatswood locals and the Cybergamer Forumers get behind the event and hopefully will be seeing you all at the next event. Ps, photos will be up on the City Hunter Webby soon.
